Welcome to UNITE
UNITE, The National Federation of Royal Mail & BT Pensioners is the oldest and the largest occupational pensioner organisation in the United Kingdom.
We have over 200 Branches around the country where you can take part in social activities if you choose to do so. The Branches offer fellowship and support locally.
We are the largest occupational pensioner organisation in the UK and our voice is listened to by the businesses from which our members come and by Government.
UNITE is about campaigning to improve the lives of our members through improved pensions, health services and transport amongst other things.
Our aims
Founded in 1930 our aims are:
- To be the leading occupational pensioner organisation in the UK.
- To protect and promote pension rights; strive to enhance the welfare and well being of its members and work with other organisations for the mutual benefit of all.
- To aid by all appropriate means the solution of problems faced by members and their dependents.
- To provide local activities, a forum for discussion on pensioner issues and opportunities for communication between members.
- To support its Charity, The National Federation of Royal Mail & BT Pensioners Welfare Fund, to give assistance to Royal Mail & BT Pensioners and their dependents who are in need and to members of UNITE.
UNITE is about campaigning to improve the lives of our members through improved pensions, health services and transport amongst other things.
What we do
We are a voice for our members through active campaigning locally and nationally on all issues affecting the lives of older people.
See > Campaigning for more information.
We provide support and fellowship for our members throughout their lives after work through a nationwide network of local Branches. Branches offer social activities, holidays, information and a forum for members to influence the running of UNITE.
We help any member who has a problem by providing information, contacting the pension administration centres, writing on their behalf or passing them on to an expert advisor. We have a Legal Hotline where members can receive a piece of free legal advice. There is always someone at the end of a telephone line to listen.
See > Benefits of membership for more information.
We work closely with other organisations such as the National Pensioners' Convention (NPC), Age Concern, Help the Aged, Equal Rights on Age, and other occupational pensioner groups such as the Civil Service Pensioners' Alliance and the Occupational Pensioners' Alliance.
